Six Ancient Manuscripts Seized in Mersin, Türkiye; Three Suspects Detained

Security forces in Mersin have seized six handwritten manuscripts believed to date back to the Roman and Byzantine periods. Three suspects were taken into custody in connection with the case.

According to a statement from the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, authorities launched an investigation in the Akdeniz district after receiving intelligence that three individuals were attempting to sell historical artifacts.

As part of the operation, gendarmerie teams raided a hotel where the suspects were staying. During the search, six ancient manuscripts were confiscated. The suspects were detained and taken to the gendarmerie for further legal proceedings.

The seized artifacts have been handed over to the Mersin Museum Directorate for examination and preservation.
